Tokyo: Shares open down ahead of Yellen speech

[TOKYO] Tokyo shares opened down on Friday as global investors awaited a key speech from Federal Reserve boss Janet Yellen.
The benchmark Nikkei 225 index slipped 0.40 per cent, or 65.42 points, to 16,490.53 in opening trading, while the broader Topix index of all first-section shares was off 0.43 per cent, or 5.60 points, at 1,298.67.
