[TOKYO] Tokyo stocks opened flat Friday as investors moved to the sidelines ahead of a holiday week in Japan and as a slew of monthly economic indicators largely matched expectations.

Tokyo's benchmark Nikkei 225 index slipped 0.06 points to 19,251.81 in the first minutes of trading, while the Topix index of all first-section issues was up 0.08 per cent, or 1.27 points, at 1,537.94.
