Tokyo: Shares open lower after Toshiba warns of huge loss

[TOKYO] Tokyo shares opened lower on Thursday after falls in New York, while investors awaited a shareholders meeting at Toshiba, which has warned of a US$9 billion annual net loss, stemming largely from its nuclear business.
The benchmark Nikkei 225 index fell 0.35 per cent, or 66.66 points to 19,150.82 in the first few minutes of trading, while the broader Topix slipped 0.30 per cent, or 4.64 points, to 1,537.43.
