Tokyo: Shares open nearly 2% higher on Wednesday
TOKYO stocks jumped at the opening bell on Wednesday following gains on Wall Street and as the yen drifted lower.
The benchmark Nikkei index surged 1.95 per cent, or 601.04 points, to 31,459.89 in early trade, while the broader Topix index also rose 1.88 per cent, or 42.47 points, at 2,296.19. AFP
