Tokyo: Stocks close 0.50% down

[TOKYO] Tokyo stocks reversed course to finish 0.50 per cent lower on Monday, losing early gains that were driven by a weaker yen and another record close on Wall Street.
The Nikkei 225 index at the Tokyo Stock Exchange ended down 89.12 points at 17,729.84, while the Topix index of all first-section issues slipped 0.20 per cent, or 2.83 points, to 1,424.67.
