Tokyo: Stocks close 3.7% down
[TOKYO] Tokyo stocks closed 3.7 per cent down on Wednesday after US crude prices hit new 12-year lows and amid continuing worries about the state of the global economy.
The benchmark Nikkei 225 index at the Tokyo Stock Exchange dropped 3.71 percent, or 632.18 points, to 16,416.19, while the broader Topix index of all first-section shares tumbled 3.70 percent, or 51.44 points, to 1,338.97.
