Tokyo: Stocks close down 0.49%

[TOKYO] Tokyo stocks closed 0.49 per cent lower on Wednesday as the yen rose, with the Bank of Japan withholding fresh easing measures.
The Nikkei 225 index at the Tokyo Stock Exchange, which jumped 2.07 per cent on Tuesday, lost 85.82 points to 17,280.48. The broader Topix index of all first-section issues was down 0.50 per cent, or 7.02 points, to 1,390.61.
