Tokyo: Stocks close down on late profit-taking

[TOKYO] Tokyo shares closed lower Thursday on late profit-taking after its main index temporarily broke above the 24,000-mark for the first time in more than 26 years.
The Nikkei 225 index lost 0.44 per cent, or 104.97 points, to 23,763.37, while the broader Topix index was down 0.74 per cent, or 13.96 points, at 1,876.86.
