Tokyo: Stocks close higher on cheaper yen

[TOKYO] Tokyo stocks closed higher on Tuesday as a cheaper yen boosted exporters with expectations for sound corporate earnings also supporting the market.
The benchmark Nikkei 225 index gained 0.86 per cent to close at 22,278.12, while the broader Topix index ended up 1.08 per cent, or 18.96 at 1,769.75.
