[TOKYO] Tokyo stocks closed lower on Friday with investors cautiously awaiting a speech by Fed Chair Jerome Powell for clues about plans to roll back the US central bank's massive stimulus measures.
The benchmark Nikkei 225 index fell 0.36 per cent, or 101.15 points, to 27,641.14, while the broader Topix index slipped 0.34 per cent, or 6.58 points, to 1,928.77.
