[TOKYO] Tokyo stocks fell for the third straight session on Wednesday as disappointing Chinese trade data fanned fears about global growth, with major automakers Toyota and Nissan sinking into negative territory.

The benchmark Nikkei 225 index at the Tokyo Stock Exchange fell 0.84 per cent, or 140.95 points, to 16,642.20, while the broader Topix index of all first-section shares lost 1.14 per cent, or 15.39 points, to 1,332.33.
