Tokyo: Stocks close lower on profit-taking

    [TOKYO] Tokyo stocks closed lower on Wednesday as investors sought to lock in profits after recent rallies, with falls on Wall Street also weighing on the market.

    The benchmark Nikkei 225 index slid 0.52 per cent or 158.39 points to end at 30,511.71, while the broader Topix index lost 1.06 per cent or 22.48 points to 2,096.39.
