[TOKYO] Tokyo stocks closed lower on Tuesday (Jan 18) as investors awaited a press conference by the Bank of Japan's governor after the central bank revised up inflation forecasts.
The benchmark Nikkei 225 index closed down 0.27 per cent or 76.27 points at 28,257.25, while the broader Topix index ended down 0.42 per cent or 8.33 points at 1,978.38.
