[TOKYO] Tokyo stocks closed higher again Thursday, picking up a positive lead from Wall Street after a hair-raising drop earlier this week as worries about China sparked a global equities rout.
The benchmark Nikkei 225 index at the Tokyo Stock Exchange gained 1.92 per cent, or 334.27 points, to 17,722.42 by the close, while the broader Topix index of all first-section shares was up 2.24 per cent, or 31.58 points, to 1,442.74.
