Tokyo: Stocks finish lower

[TOKYO] Tokyo's benchmark index ended 1.63 per cent lower on Monday, weighed down by a slump in telecoms and worries over China's economy ahead of a hotly anticipated US interest rate decision this week.

The Nikkei 225 index at the Tokyo Stock Exchange slipped 298.52 points to 17,965.70, while the broader Topix index of all first section shares edged lower 1.20 per cent, or 17.82 points, to 1,462.41.
