Tokyo: Stocks open flat ahead of Fed meeting

[TOKYO] Tokyo stocks opened flat on Tuesday, following modest gains on Wall Street, ahead of a Federal Reserve meeting expected to raise the benchmark US interest rate.
The Nikkei 225 index at the Tokyo Stock Exchange rose 0.07 per cent, or 13.54 points, to 18,896.96 in early trade, while the broader Topix index of all first-section shares gained 0.13 per cent, or 1.99 points, to 1,529.87.
