[TOKYO] Tokyo stocks opened higher on Thursday, following gains on Wall Street where technology companies lifted the Dow and S&P 500 to fresh records.
The benchmark Nikkei 225 index rose 1.04 per cent, or 173.29 points, to 16,855.18 at the open, while the broader Topix index of all first-section shares gained 1.03 per cent, or 13.65 points, to 1,344.40.
