Tokyo: Stocks open higher, extending US rallies

    [TOKYO] Tokyo stocks opened higher on Monday as investors took heart from US rallies as they digested the Bank of Japan's key business confidence survey.

    The benchmark Nikkei 225 index was up 1.09 per cent or 309.51 points at 28,747.28 in early trade, while the broader Topix index advanced 0.89 per cent or 17.50 points to 1,992.98.
