Tokyo: Stocks open higher following US gains

[TOKYO] Tokyo stocks opened higher on Wednesday, after Wall Street got a solid boost from an upturn in Chinese inflation and a rebound in commodities led by oil prices.
The Nikkei-225 index at the Tokyo Stocks Exchange gained 171.53 points, or 1.04 per cent, to 16,736.72 in the first minutes of trade. The Topix index of all first-section shares rose 13.05 points, or 0.98 per cent, to 1,347.95.
