[TOKYO] Tokyo stocks opened higher on Thursday, shrugging off a stronger yen and tracking gains on Wall Street on surprisingly positive US inflation data.
The benchmark Nikkei 225 index advanced 1.09 per cent, or 230.53 points, to 21,384.70 in early trade, while the broader Topix index was up 0.99 per cent, or 16.89 points, at 1,719.61.
