Tokyo: Stocks open higher on Monday

[TOKYO] Tokyo stocks opened higher on Monday, shrugging off falls in US shares last week, but investors appeared cautious with corporate earnings report season under way in Japan and the US.
The benchmark Nikkei 225 index advanced 0.68 per cent or 144.34 points to 21,328.94 in early trade, while the broader Topix index was up 0.63 per cent or 10.01 points to 1,606.02.
