Tokyo: Stocks open higher on Monday

    [TOKYO] Tokyo stocks opened higher on Tuesday as investors took heart from record closes on Wall Street while awaiting the outcome of a US Federal Reserve meeting later this week.

    The benchmark Nikkei 225 index was up 0.02 per cent or 5.28 points at 29,772.25 in early trade, while the broader Topix index gained 0.07 per cent or 1.30 points to 1,970.03.
