Tokyo: Stocks open higher on Thursday

[TOKYO] Tokyo stocks opened higher on Thursday as investors snapped up shares at a bargain after the previous day's fall, while Mitsubishi UFJ rose modestly on reports that its mainstay bank would invest some US$1.8 billion in an Indonesian bank.
The benchmark Nikkei 225 index edged up 0.37 per cent, or 84.08 points, to 22,997.90 in early trade while the broader Topix index was up 0.30 per cent, or 5.47 points, at 1,823.07.
