Tokyo: Stocks open higher on trade hopes

[TOKYO] Tokyo stocks opened higher on Monday, helped by rallies on Wall Street amid increasing optimism over the US-China trade talks.
The benchmark Nikkei 225 index climbed 0.21 per cent or 49.05 points at 23,440.92 in early trade, while the broader Topix index was up 0.36 per cent or 6.12 points at 1,708.89.
