Tokyo: Stocks open higher on weaker yen, Wall St gains
[TOKYO] Tokyo stocks opened higher on a weaker yen on Friday after Wall Street rallied on a surge in oil prices, as investors focused on the outcome of a Bank of Japan policy meeting.
The benchmark Nikkei 225 index at the Tokyo Stock Exchange advanced 0.67 per cent, or 113.61 points, to 17,155.06 in opening deals, while the broader Topix index of all first-section shares rose 0.62 per cent, or 8.63 points, to 1,400.73.
