Tokyo: Stocks open higher as yen drops

[Tokyo] Tokyo stocks opened higher on Thursday with investor sentiment boosted by a weak yen and a record close on Wall Street.
The benchmark Nikkei 225 turned up 0.51 per cent or 123.31 points to 24,234.27 in early trade while the broader Topix was up 0.81 per cent or 14.52 points at 1,817.25.
