[TOKYO] Tokyo stocks opened lower Wednesday as the yen firmed against the US dollar on fears of US political instability linked to US President Donald Trump's alleged leak of intelligence to Russia.
The benchmark Nikkei 225 lost 0.65 per cent, or 129.98 points to 19,789.84 in early trading, while the Topix index of all first-section issues was down 0.60 per cent, or 9.50 points, at 1,574.73.
