Tokyo: Stocks open lower ahead of Fed decision

[TOKYO] Tokyo stocks opened lower Wednesday ahead of an expected Federal Reserve interest rate hike later in the day.
The Nikkei 225 index slipped 0.35 per cent, or 68.88 points, to 19,540.62 in the first minute of trade while the Topix index of all first-section issues was down 0.33 per cent, or 5.22 points, at 1,569.68.
