Tokyo: Stocks open lower ahead of Federal Reserve events

    [TOKYO] Tokyo stocks opened lower on Wednesday as investors took to the sidelines ahead of key US congressional testimony by Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell.

    The benchmark Nikkei 225 index was down 0.34 per cent or 73.94 points at 21,491.21 in early trade, while the broader Topix index was down 0.60 per cent, or 9.38 points, at 1,565.51.
