[TOKYO] Tokyo stocks opened lower on Wednesday, extending falls on Wall Street as investors took to the sidelines ahead of the US Federal Reserve's meeting.
The benchmark Nikkei 225 index was down 0.4 percent or 104.66 points at 29,336.64 in early trade, while the broader Topix index slipped 0.1 percent or 1.80 points to 1,973.68.
