Tokyo: Stocks open lower on Thursday

    [TOKYO] Tokyo stocks opened lower on Thursday in cautious trade after modest Wall Street rallies, as investors weighed the prospects for recovery in major economies.

    The benchmark Nikkei 225 index was down 0.31 per cent or 88.63 points at 28,553.56 in early trade, while the broader Topix index slipped 0.22 per cent or 4.19 points to 1,916.48.
