Tokyo: Stocks open lower on strong yen

    [TOKYO] Tokyo stocks opened lower on Tuesday on a strong yen against the dollar, with investors digesting Prime Minister Shinzo Abe's plan to resign and the race to succeed him.

    The benchmark Nikkei 225 index was down 0.15 per cent or 35.34 points at 23,104.42 in early trade, while the broader Topix index slipped 0.30 per cent or 4.83 points to 1,613.35.
