Tokyo: Stocks open lower on stronger yen

    [TOKYO] Tokyo stocks opened lower Monday, as a stronger yen weighed on exporters, despite a positive lead from Wall Street.

    The benchmark Nikkei 225 index at the Tokyo Stock Exchange lost 0.39 per cent, or 65.07 points, to 16,671.28 in opening deals, while the broader Topix index of all first-section shares dropped 0.44 per cent, or 5.85 points, to 1,337.55.
