Tokyo: Stocks open lower on Thursday

    [TOKYO] Tokyo stocks opened lower on Thursday despite more conciliatory messages from Washington on trade.

    The benchmark Nikkei 225 index fell 0.48 per cent or 101.38 points to 21,087.18 in early trade while the broader Topix index was down 0.34 per cent or 5.29 points at 1,538.86.
