Tokyo: Stocks open lower on US politics

[TOKYO] Tokyo stocks opened lower on Wednesday, as the safe haven yen rose against the US dollar after Donald Trump's White House was rocked by the resignation of top economic advisor Gary Cohn.
The benchmark Nikkei 225 index fell 0.59 per cent, or 126.50 yen to 21,291.26 in early trade while the broader Topix index was down 0.52 per cent, or 8.85 points at 1,707.45.
