Tokyo: Stocks open lower on Wednesday

    TOKYO stocks opened lower on Wednesday after Wall Street ended mixed, with the S&P 500 notching a new low for the year.

    The benchmark Nikkei 225 index was down 0.32 per cent, or 85.98 points, at 26,485.89 in early trade, while the broader Topix index was down 0.41 per cent, or 7.69 points, at 1,865.32. AFP
