Tokyo: Stocks open lower on Wednesday

    [TOKYO] Tokyo stocks opened lower on Wednesday as traders continued to cash in on recent gains, shrugging off widely expected data showing that Japan's economy grew for the seventh straight quarter.

    The benchmark Nikkei 225 index fell 0.57 per cent, or 128.08 points, to 22,251.93 in early trade while the broader Topix index was down 0.61 per cent, or 10.89 points, at 1,767.98.
