Tokyo: Stocks open lower on yen, Wall St losses

[TOKYO] Tokyo stocks opened lower on Wednesday as a stronger yen dented exporters and following sharp losses on Wall Street.
The benchmark Nikkei 225 index at the Tokyo Stock Exchange lost 0.94 per cent, or 157.56 points, to 16,625.59 in opening deals, while the broader Topix index of all first-section shares fell 0.95 per cent, or 12.83 points, to 1,334.89.
