[TOKYO] Tokyo stocks opened modestly higher on Monday tracking gains on Wall Street as the Bank of Japan's quarterly Tankan survey showed business confidence hitting its highest level in a decade.
The benchmark Nikkei 225 index rose 0.16 per cent, or 32.65 points, to 20,388.93 in early trade while the broader Topix index was up 0.13 per cent, or 2.21 points, at 1.676.96.
