Tokyo: Stocks rise at open as weaker yen lifts exporters

[TOKYO] Tokyo stocks opened modestly higher on Friday as a weaker yen boosted exporters and investors focused on US jobs figures due later in the day.
The benchmark Nikkei 225 index edged up 0.15 per cent, or 24.10 points, to reach 16,278.99 in opening deals, while the broader Topix index of all first-section shares was up 0.17 per cent, or 2.21 points, at 1,285.20.
