Tokyo: Stocks shed early losses after Japan, China data

    [TOKYO] Tokyo stocks cast off early losses in thin trading Wednesday as investors reacted to a batch of Japanese and Chinese data.

    The benchmark Nikkei 225 index was up 0.93 per cent, or 155.47 points, to end at 16,830.92, and the Topix index of all first-section shares gained 0.76 per cent, or 10.20 points, to end at 1,350.97.
