US stocks dip ahead of Fed minutes
[NEW YORK] Wall Street stocks edged lower early Wednesday ahead of Federal Reserve meeting minutes that will be studied for additional clues about the likelihood of a December interest rate hike.
The Fed has signaled it expects to lift rates again in December, while emphasizing that it will scrutinize evolving economic data before making a final decision.
About 15 minutes into trading, the Dow Jones Industrial Average lost a hair at 22,927.19 The blue-chip index finished at a record high on Tuesday.
The broad-based S&P 500 dropped less than 0.1 per cent to 2,550.09, while the tech-rich Nasdaq Composite Index shed 0.1 per cent to 6,584.08.
