US: Tech-heavy Nasdaq leads Wall St lower at open
WALL Street’s main indexes opened lower on Friday(Aug 19) after US Federal Reserve officials said the central bank needs to keep raising interest rates to rein in inflation, dragging down megacap growth and technology stocks.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 94.35 points, or 0.28 per cent, at the open to 33,904.69.
The S&P 500 opened lower by 17.43 points, or 0.41 per cent, at 4,266.31, while the Nasdaq Composite dropped 133.07 points, or 1.03 per cent, to 12,832.27 at the opening bell. REUTERS
