US: Wall St opens higher, all eyes on economic data

    WALL Street’s main stock indexes opened higher on Monday (Dec 18) in the run-up to economic data this week that could offer insights on when the Federal Reserve could start cutting interest rates.

    The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 34.98 points, or 0.12 per cent, at the open to 37,352.14.

    The S&P 500 opened higher by 12.39 points, or 0.24 per cent, at 4,731.58, while the Nasdaq Composite gained 0.20 points, or 0.13 per cent, to 14,835.02 at the opening bell. REUTERS
