US: Wall Street opens lower as UK’s Truss resigns as PM
WALL Street’s main indexes opened lower on Thursday (Oct 20) after the resignation of Liz Truss as prime minister of the UK added a layer of uncertainty to markets struggling to hold on to gains from a set of positive earnings forecasts from US companies.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 11.89 points, or 0.04 per cent, at the open to 30,411.92.
The S&P 500 opened lower by 6.11 points, or 0.17 per cent, at 3,689.05, while the Nasdaq Composite dropped 23.09 points, or 0.22 per cent, to 10,657.41 at the opening bell. REUTERS
