Wall Street subdued at open as Fed rate cut decision nears
[NEW YORK] Wall Street’s main stock indexes were subdued at the open on Tuesday (Dec 9) as investors awaited the Federal Reserve’s policy decision, while Nvidia shares were whipsawed by contrasting news around exports of advanced AI chips to China.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 14.8 points, or 0.03 per cent, at the open to 47,724.52.
The S&P 500 fell 5.9 points, or 0.09 per cent, at the open to 6,840.61, while the Nasdaq Composite dropped 41.3 points, or 0.18 per cent, to 23,504.614 at the opening bell. REUTERS
