CapitaLand CEO awarded honorary doctorate by UK alma mater

CHIEF executive of CapitaLand Lim Ming Yan has received an honorary doctorate from the University of Birmingham in the UK, the university said on Friday.

Mr Lim, named Doctor of the University on Wednesday, is an alumnus of the university, where he earned his Bachelor of Science ( First Class Honours) in mechanical engineering and economics in 1985.

He followed up this degree with the Advanced Management Programme at the Harvard Business School in 2002.

Mr Lim said: "I am deeply honoured to accept this honorary doctorate from my alma mater. I may have graduated from the University of Birmingham 30 years ago, but its motto, Per ardua ad alta, meaning "Through hard work, great things are achieved", has kept me grounded in all my life pursuits. Furthermore, the lessons I learnt there - to keep an open mind, to keep learning and contributing - have enabled me to stay relevant in this fast-changing world."
