Car buyers at Jardine C&C stand to win holidays abroad
Singapore
JARDINE Cycle & Carriage's regional car dealership arm is giving away holidays in a marketing campaign for its 120th birthday. It will send selected customers to Mongolia, Nepal or South Korea this year or next year, the group said on Wednesday.
The Cycle & Carriage division, which operates in Singapore, Malaysia and Myanmar, has launched this promotion under a new brand tagline - "Exceptional Journeys".
Customers in Singapore can enter the lucky draw - which has up to 120 five-day vacations on offer - by buying a new car or spending at least S$200 on after-sales services starting from today.
Cycle & Carriage carries passenger and commercial vehicles from 10 brands - including Mitsubishi, Kia and Citroen - and prides itself on having secured the first South-east Asian franchise for Mercedes-Benz in 1951. It also sells second-hand cars in Singapore under the Republic Auto name.
According to its latest financial statements, Jardine Cycle & Carriage saw profit contributions of some US$14 million from direct motor interests in Singapore, Malaysia and Myanmar for the quarter to Sept 30, 2018.
It made an underlying net profit of US$261.2 million in that period, not counting non-trading items.
Cycle & Carriage set up shop in Kuala Lumpur in 1899 and was listed 70 years later in an initial public offering of S$241.65 million. It became a Jardine Matheson Group unit in 2002.
Haslam Preeston, regional managing director of parent group Jardine Cycle & Carriage, said in a media statement: "As Cycle & Carriage celebrates its 120th anniversary in 2019, we remain committed to serving those who have been along this journey with us."
Jardine Cycle & Carriage also deals in cars in Indonesia through a majority stake in conglomerate Astra International, which also does business in sectors such as financial services, agri-business, energy and property.
The counter ended Wednesday at S$36.27, up by S$0.18 or 0.5 per cent.
