CFOs play crucial role in shaping tech agenda

WITH the speed of change and impact of new technology on business, it is now even more crucial for chief financial officers (CFO) to play a bigger role in shaping the technology agenda for their organisations, say CFOs and consultants.
"There is no escaping that technology must be a part of the CFO's remit, and it will be incumbent upon the CFO to keep abreast of the latest technologies so as to effectively partner with the chief information officer (CIO) and IT functions," said Vincent Toong, assurance partner at professional services firm EY, who led a recent survey of CFOs together with accounting body CPA Australia.
The EY-CPA Australia study of nearly 90 CFOs found that two thirds of those polled said that evolving technology is one of their greatest challenges.
