SINGAPORE wants companies here to raise their capabilities and reinvent processes to boost efficiency and productivity.
Minister for Trade and Industry Chan Chun Sing, speaking to reporters at a tour of precision engineering firm Molex Singapore on Friday, said: "We're gradually seeing a shift towards more high-tech, precision-engineering efforts. What we have seen here is not just the advance in the production system; (Molex) also has the capabilities to do research and development (R&D) and design, and also the capability to design the production process ... to be more productive, more efficient. It is something that we want to see in more companies across our entire economy."
